The Awakening

  • The Awakening

Let’s talk about life: when the feelings stir,
when the thoughts move to light from the darkest blur.
When the skin curls, when the flesh winds,
when the mind, groping shyly, an answer finds.
When you seek the unthought with bashful eyes
and, pale with fright, its staring-back realize.
Let’s ask ourselves how we can feel good
when we see that sleep cripples every flow,
makes people tame, makes the breath go slow.
When you see you’re not like this
    what in others you miss
    When the earth quakes,
    the appearance breaks,
and what sticks to the fakes
    is only blood.
Let’s have a guess if you were appreciating
    life slowly disintegrating
and plenty of wisdom is decorating
    every single spark inflating.
    When deeds take their toll,
    in self purpose they loll,
and when dreams burst like bubbles of Rock’n’Roll.
Because you see you’re not like this
    what in others you miss.
When you grub in the unknown for a little bit of luck
and, when you find it, it’s just a boring fuck.
Let’s talk about hope, when you raise your eye
and the voices from your head to your heart do fly.
When your tongue pierces through your lips so you’ll
    utter words so cruel
    to break the rules.
    When you raise your fists,
    when your body twists,
and what sticks to your wrists
    is only anger.
